CHILD HAVEN

Child Haven is dedicated to providing care and support for children who lack parental guidance. The organization assists and equips foster parents to ensure that these children receive protection, education, training, and therapy within a loving and supportive family environment. Child Haven prioritizes family-based care over traditional orphanages, creating a nurturing atmosphere where children can thrive.

The children at Child Haven benefit from a safe, secure, and caring setting, thanks to the commitment of trained and approved "house parents" who open their homes and hearts to these vulnerable children.

To continue its vital work and expand its support, Child Haven welcomes all donations. Your contributions play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of children in need and enabling the organization to provide essential resources and care.

  • Child Haven’s greatest need is financial support to assist the families currently fostering children. Your contributions are crucial in providing the necessary resources for these families to offer the best care and support to the children in their homes.

Additionally, we are seeking compassionate individuals who are willing to open their homes to foster children. By becoming a foster parent, you can make a profound difference in a child’s life, offering them a loving and stable environment.

Financial donations help cover essential needs such as education, therapy, and daily necessities, while new foster parents provide the personal touch of care and stability.

To support Child Haven, please consider making a financial donation or exploring the possibility of becoming a foster parent. Your involvement is vital in helping us expand our efforts and continue providing the love, care, and resources that every child deserves.

Did you know?

In 2022, there were 2.8 million orphaned children in South Africa. This includes children without a living biological mother, or father or both parents, and is equivalent to 14% of all children in South Africa.

Experts suggest that more than half (1.8 million) could benefit from adoption (either by extended family–to afford them a permanent, legal, familial relationship–or by unrelated families). Of the 1.8 million children in need of adoption, only a tiny fraction are placed in adoptive families.

In that year, there were only 977 national adoptions, 146 intercountry adoptions, 1123 in total.

With a reported 3500 unwanted babies deserted every year, it’s safe to say that child abandonment in South Africa is an epidemic.

Further, it is estimated that 42% of boys and 43% of girls in South Africa will suffer some form of abuse before the age of 18 (Ciet Africa, 2002)
